Why Gentlemen Like the HPO
We’re hitting the blog to talk about something most wedding vendors don’t: the guys! One of our favorite parts about the booking process is hearing the groom’s reaction to the building. Traditionally, the bride has mostly been in charge of planning the big day but those days are gone! We love grooms who are equally involved or sometimes even take the lead. The HPO is appealing to both men and women alike and we asked a few of our grooms why that’s so.
What made you personally decide that the HPO was the right venue to have your wedding?
“The venue had so much character. It was a nice blend of classic architecture and modern style and I could see why my wife was so excited. Once I was able to visit in person, I was even more sold. It had everything we needed, met our budget and was our style too. The staff was excellent to deal with through out the entire process and was more than willing to help with a couple of small wedding day speedbumps.” – Ben, May groom
“…the decor seemed to speak to both masculine and feminine beauty. I feel like the HPO stands apart from many venues that seem to only appeal to the bride.” – Graham, November groom
“I hadn’t even seen any pictures yet, but Katie told me they were going to look at the ‘Historic Post Office’ and I knew it was a done deal. It sounded like exactly what she would go for. Sure enough I got the call a couple hours later… I think a big factor for both of us, but me especially, was the proximity to everything our friends and families would want to do before / after our wedding. We have been to a lot of beautiful venues for other weddings that involved 40 minute bus rides and that was something we wanted to shy away from. So the HPO was perfect being walking distance to the Crowne Plaza and a couple of great bars.” – Thomas, March groom (Yes! Downtown Hampton has so much to offer guests.)
In general, what is your favorite part about the HPO and why?
“I love how the space is set up. It lends to creativity in the use of the space, making each event unique.” – Graham (We so agree, HPO couples get to have a space that is uniquely theirs.)
“As an architecture nerd, the building was my favorite part. You can feel the style from across the street. Inside, the exposed structure is gorgeous.” – Ben
What was your favorite part about the HPO the day of your wedding and why?
“The space is even BETTER with everything you’ve planned for and all the ones you love!” – Graham
“My favorite part on our wedding day was the big open feel that the HPO provides. It really made the moment feel grand as we were introduced. With about 220 guests we certainly packed it out, but being able to look around and see so many friendly faces at once made it a special moment. Additionally having a space to get ready / relax before the wedding with all of my groomsmen really helped to calm my nerves.” – Thomas
“Not to be sappy, but my favorite part was the wedding. I got to marry my wife in a gorgeous setting with all of our family and friends. There isn’t much more I could have asked for. It was also satisfying to receive so many compliments from our guests. Every time we go to a wedding now, we compare it to ours and the venue never matches up. Of all the venues we saw, the HPO was the best and I’m so glad we were able to have our wedding there.” – Ben (Cue our tears because that is about the sweetest compliment to the HPO!)
