The Importance of Event Insurance

What is special event insurance?

According to WedSafe, our partner and preferred insurance company,

“Wedding insurance is designed to help couples prepare for the financial consequences resulting from unexpected situations such as extreme weather, no-show vendors, and alcohol-related accidents. With wedding insurance, your financial investment and dream wedding may be protected.”

Liability & Property Damage Insurance

This type of insurance is required by the HPO and may cover bodily injury, property damage, and alcohol-related incidents. Through WedSafe, you have the ability to label the venue as additionally insured and receive the certificate easily via email. The HPO requires a $1 million per occurrence and $2 million general aggregate policy in addition to host liquor liability if alcohol is to be served. This cost can be as low as $175.

Event Cancellation/Postponement Insurance

This type of insurance is optional if the renter would like to include it in their policy. WedSafe provides insurance for situations beyond your control such as severe weather, unexpected illness, or withdrawal of military leave. You may also be reimbursed for non-refundable deposits due to no-show vendors. Finally, this insurance may cover costs of replacing lost or damaged photographs, jewelry, gifts or invitations. This coverage can include all aspects of wedding weekend such as the rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception. This cost is based upon your total wedding budget.

Can I acquire this policy through my homeowners insurance?

Yes, you can. However, we tend to see that it complicates the process and is more expensive. In addition, WedSafe offers “primary coverage that pays out first.” Filing a claim through your homeowners insurance could “increase your rates or result in termination of your policy.”

So, for the easiest and most cost-effective policy, visit WedSafe today and have a worry free event at the HPO!
